Bike Parking
Providing secure and convenient bike parking is a simple, but effective way to support healthy and sustainable transportation.
Request a Bike Rack
The City will install bike racks within the public right-of-way in commercial districts, parks, and other City-owned property when funding becomes available. Requests will be reviewed by staff for feasibility and suitability. Submitting a request does not guarantee installation.
The City does not install racks on residential streets or private property.
Bike Parking Design and Placement
Bike racks should provide two points of contact between the rack and bike (thus 1) holding the bike upright without placing stress on a wheel and 2) allowing both the frame and a wheel to be locked to the rack with a u-lock), be installed in convenient and visible locations near building entrances, and maintain sidewalk accessibility. The Association of Bicycle and Pedestrian Professionals' Essentials of Bike Parking provides guidance on bike rack selection, placement, and installation.
