Meets: 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. at the Petaluma Community Center, 320 North McDowell Boulevard, Petaluma, 94954.
The Youth Commission consists of up to 35 members as follows:
- Up to eight adults (ages 21 or older), appointed by Council from the community at large, and who shall be voting members. Members shall live within local school district boundaries. Members shall serve two-year terms.
- Up to twenty youth (eighth grade through age 20), appointed by Council, and who shall be voting members. Members shall live within local school district boundaries. Members shall serve two-year terms.
- Up to five youth advocates (eighth grade through age 20), appointed by Council, and who shall be non-voting members. Members shall live within local school district boundaries. Members shall serve two-year terms.
- One liaison from the Recreation, Music, and Parks Commission (RMPC), selected by RMPC, and who shall be a voting member. The RMPC Liaison shall serve a one-year term.
- One liaison from the City Council, chosen by the Council, and who shall be a voting member. The Council Liaison shall serve a one-year term.
The purpose of the commission is to be an advocate for the well-being and development of youth through age 21 in the City of Petaluma and in the five areas of their mission: health, safety, recreation, jobs, and community engagement.
