CLIMATE ACTION UPDATE

This week, our Climate Action Commission shared the following upcoming events. Check them out!
Climate Ready comes to Movies in the Parks! Join us at Lucchesi Park at 7pm prior to Movies in the Park this Friday, June 17th. Climate Ready is partnering with Petaluma Parks to showcase a community climate themed “street art” activity by Humpbacks of Notre Dame. Humpbacks of Notre Dame is an interactive, improvisational “street theater” experience inviting participants to consider a future when all the glaciers have melted due to inaction in our current time. Participants chip a fragment of “the last glacier on earth” returned from the year 2069 from a large block of ice. More info about Movies in the Park can be found here.
Come out for a free community bike swap! Grand Central Café is hosting a community bike swap on June 19th 9am-3pm. Bring your bike to 226 Weller Street to swap, repair, or donate. All donated bikes will be given to low income families in Petaluma.

MOVIES IN THE PARK IS BACK!

Our Parks & Recreation Department is excited to bring back our Movies in the Park series this Summer and Fall!
The first movie night of the Summer takes place Friday, June 17th at Lucchesi Park.

JUNE GENERAL PLAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE SESSION ON THE HOUSING ELEMENT

June 16, 2022, 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Zoom link available in meeting agenda document at cityofpetaluma.org/meetings
Since late 2020, the City of Petaluma has been working on updating its General Plan, the road map that will shape the future of the city for the next 20 – 30 years. The Housing Element, Petaluma’s plan to provide needed housing and increase housing equity over the next eight years, is an important part of the General Plan Update.
The June General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) Session is an opportunity to review our progress updating the Housing Element. We are focusing on two important draft documents that identify housing sites and the goals, policies, and programs we will enact to serve our community’s housing needs. This session is one of several public meetings to review and shape our community’s approach to our next Housing Element.
