Aaron Zavala

Aaron Zavala, MPA, is the Senior Management Analyst in the Public Works and Utilities Department for the City of Petaluma.

Aaron’s previous government experience includes serving as a graduate intern for the County of Fresno, CA; Management Analyst in the Public Works Department for the City of Mesquite, Texas; and Administrative Analyst in the Office of the City Manager for the City of San Bernardino, CA. Aaron earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Sonoma State University and a Master of Public Administration degree from California State University, Fresno. Currently, he is working on an Executive Master of Urban Planning Degree from the University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy and expects to graduate in 2020.

Aaron has spent his professional career active in several professional organizations, including the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), where he has served on the Advisory Board on Graduate Education and Sustainable Communities Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC), and the Local Government Hispanic Network (LGHN).

Aaron is a Sonoma County native, graduate of Cardinal Newman High School, and recently moved back to the area with his wife, Christy. He is committed to public service and helping make the City of Petaluma, the community of choice. He enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, traveling, and rooting for local sports teams.
