Zilverio Rivera

Lieutenant Rivera, a 25-year veteran of law enforcement, began his career with the Petaluma Police Department in 2007 and has served in a variety of assignments including Patrol, Field Training Officer, Gang Officer, Detective, and Sergeant.  In 2022, Lieutenant Rivera promoted to Sergeant where he served as a Patrol Sergeant and Gang Enforcement Team Supervisor.  Lieutenant Rivera is a graduate of Sonoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and recently completed his Master’s Degree from American Military University in Criminology.  Lieutenant Rivera was responsible for the development and the implementation of the highly impactful Homeless Outreach Services Team (HOST) in 2015 and has been heavily involved in our Restorative Resources Program partnership with Mentor Me.  Lieutenant Rivera was selected as the Petaluma Police Officer of the Year for 2020.  Lieutenant Rivera is also bilingual in Spanish.
