Movies in the Park: “Moana”
We are thrilled to announce that our beloved Movies in the Park series will be returning to Petaluma in 2022!
All movie events are free, and will take place at Lucchesi Park in Petaluma on various Fridays during the Summer and Fall. Food and beverage vendors will be available for each movie event. To encourage community members to travel by bike instead of car, the City of Petaluma will be offering a bike valet at all of the Movies in the Park events.
The art activity will be presented by Humpbacks of Notre Dame. Humpbacks of Notre Dame is an interactive, improvisational “street theater” experience inviting participants to consider a future when all the glaciers have melted due to inaction in our current time. Participants chip a fragment of “the last glacier on earth” returned from the year 2069 from a large block of ice.
This exhibit will include a 15 feet long, 6 feet wide and 12 feet tall sculpture that is built on a human-powered two seater cargo tricycle, showcasing a transportation mode replacing both gas and electric powered vehicles for short trips.
People of all ages will become enrolled in our story as they read our parody newspaper from the future and talk with our mermaid. We will encourage storytelling and play-acting around the theme of climate change. We will have a 30 pound “glacier” which they can chip at with our ice hammer, to make fragments to take with them.
We hope that you will come out and join us under the stars!
