Project Description: Proposed exterior alterations of the Downtown Fire Station No.1, a two-story building serving as the operational fire station, office, and garage, located within the Historic Commercial District. Exterior alterations include replacement of exterior windows with aluminum frame windows with divided lites to match original design, replacement of garage doors with custom fabricated aluminum frame apparatus bay doors to replicate original design, a new main entrance, modifications to the North elevation, and replacement of the plaster in the 1970’s addition. One new street tree is proposed along the 2nd Street frontage. In addition to the required discretionary Minor HSPAR, the project’s scope of work also includes modifications to interior building programming and interior renovations, installation of automatic fire sprinklers and alarms, and seismic upgrades. No changes to the building’s size, footprint, or massing are proposed. The proposed modifications will support current and future operational requirements and implement best practices.

During the construction, which is expected to start in early 2025 and last approximately 12 months, the fire station will temporarily relocate to 307 Petaluma Blvd North. All operations and services will continue uninterrupted, ensuring that the community receives the same level of protection and support.
