City Management Support: Leah Walker
Meets: Typically the 2nd Wednesday of every other month at 5:30 p.m. at the Petaluma Community Center, 320 North McDowell Boulevard, Petaluma.
The Groundwater Advisory Committee is an advisory body to the Petaluma Valley Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA), a joint powers authority of five agencies: City of Petaluma, County of Sonoma, Sonoma County Water Agency, North Bay Water District and Sonoma Resource Conservation District. There are ten members of the Advisory Committee; the City Council appoints one of these members. The committee member appointed by the City Council advises the GSA Board on the City's interests in groundwater basin planning and GSA actions. The term for the advisory committee members is two years with no limit on reappointment. The meeting schedule has not yet been established, but is expected to be every other month. Meeting location to be determined.
The purpose of the advisory committee is to advise the GSA Board on the development and implementation of a groundwater sustainability plan (GSP) and GSA policies. The intent of the committee is to provide community perspective and participation in the GSA. The committee will review and/or provide recommendations to the Board on groundwater-related issues.
The Advisory Committee will not be involved in Agency budgets or day-to-day operations, such as personnel staffing or contracting.
Members must live or work within or represent an organization with a presence in the Petaluma Valley Groundwater Basin.
