#PETALUMA PROUD of Houston Porter
Houston Porter is a Petaluma-grown journalist whose passion for local farm-to-table is well documented in his Argus-Courier column, On The Tip of My Tongue. His columns and feature stories break down the vibrant local food movement in terms every Petaluman can understand: how good people connect over food & drink to create amazing community.
As a champion for area farmers, ranchers, artisan food & beverage purveyors, and restaurants Houston has also judged local food & drink competitions, announced at parades, and emceed fundraising auctions & non-profit events.
In addition to writing pieces for local media outlets including the Argus-Courier & Sonoma Magazine, Houston manages the Petaluma Foodies Facebook page and has used that platform as a force for good during the COVID-19 crisis. It’s a great resource for regular updates about which local food & drink purveyors are open, and the available services each offers. He also encourages readers to be extra generous with orders and tipping during this difficult time.
“I love being part of such a diverse and vibrant community,” he writes. “I am thankful and humbled that so many people enjoy what I have to say.”
You do us all Petaluma Proud, Houston!
