In order to reduce the risk of wild fires, energy companies like PG&E will turn off power in certain areas during times of extreme fire danger. This type of power outage is called a Public Safety Power Shutoff, or PSPS.
PG&E has announced a PSPS event in some of its service areas starting on September 7, 2020. This PSPS is not scheduled to affect service in Petaluma. Please go to the PG&E PSPS event page to see which service areas will be affected.
