Whether it’s dropping the kids off at school, biking to work or school, or using your bike to run that easy errand – it’s so COOL to bike! Save gas and enjoy the fresh air while pedaling away!

Thanks to funding from voter-approved Measure U, we’ve made meaningful safety and accessibility upgrades to bike paths across the city—helping more residents ride with confidence. We’re also proud to lead the Petaluma Safe Routes to School Task Force, a city-sponsored initiative that brings together our Public Works and Police Departments, Sonoma County Safe Routes to School, and all three of Petaluma’s public school districts. Since launching in 2023, we’ve conducted walk audits at every public school, identified priority improvements, and already delivered upgrades like safer crossings and clearer signage.

We’ve got all kinds of exciting, bike-related events happening throughout the month of May to celebrate National Bike Month. Take a look!

  • Friday, May 2nd, 6:00PM – 7:00PM | Petaluma First Friday Ride – The 1st Friday of every month features a family-friendly ride year round!  This month will begin AND end at the Petaluma Community Center at Lucchesi Park. Click HERE to view the route.
  • Sunday, May 4th, 11:30AM | Bike to Future Fest – Our very own Mayor McDonnell will lead a bike train leaving Walnut Park at 11:30AM on Sunday, May 4th, and crossing town on the Lynch Creek Trail to get to the Petaluma Community Center at Lucchesi Park.
