For Immediate Release

August 7, 2024 – On Monday night, in a Council chamber filled with mobilehome residents, the Petaluma City Council emphatically reaffirmed its commitment to upholding, enforcing and strengthening its mobilehome park regulations. The City’s mobile home rent stabilization regulations protect mobilehome owners against excessive rents while ensuring park owners can earn a reasonable return. The City’s mobile home park conversion regulations protect mobilehome owners’ investment in their homes by ensuring the availability of adequate housing options and that reasonable relocation costs will be provided as part of any proposed park conversion or closure. Petaluma’s mobilehome park regulations are essential to preserving housing stability and affordability for almost 900 households. The City Council has directed staff to take the necessary steps to achieve compliance with the City’s regulations, to inform park owners and residents about their rights and obligations, and to recommend updates to the City’s regulations as needed to further their purposes. Staff will be keeping the entire Petaluma community updated about their efforts to protect our mobilehome communities.
