FAIR HOUSING
PPSC Fair Housing aims to promote equal access to housing opportunities and prevent discrimination in housing practices. These services are designed to ensure that all individuals have the right to seek housing without being subjected to discriminatory practices based on factors such as race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. Whether you're seeking general assistance about housing, have questions about your rights, or believe you've experienced housing discrimination, PPSC can help. The PPSC Fair Housing Specialist can:
- Provide information and resources to the public about fair housing laws, rights, and responsibilities.
- Offer counseling and support services to individuals who believe they have experienced housing discrimination.
- Investigate complaints of housing discrimination and taking appropriate action to address violations of fair housing laws.
RENTAL ASSISTANCE
Rental assistance refers to financial aid provided to individuals or families to help cover the cost of renting a home or apartment. Rental assistance plays a crucial role in promoting housing stability, reducing poverty, and addressing homelessness. By providing financial support to those in need, rental assistance programs help create more equitable and inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Whether you're facing challenges with affording rent or are at risk of losing your housing, PPSC can help.

Seniors may be eligible for a special rental assistance program PPSC administers called Bridge the Gap. This program funded by the Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging is open to Sonoma County low-income seniors who are struggling to cover a portion of their rent. The rental assistance is available for an entire year. However, PPSC supplies much smaller payments in this program than in their other Rental Assistance and payments are made directly to the landlord and/or utility company. Bridge the Gap assistance can also be used for those living in mobile home parks.
