Medicare Benefits

CalPERS

Medicare is a federal health insurance program for individuals age 65 and older; individuals under age 65 with certain disabilities; or with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).

As a member currently enrolled in a CalPERS Medicare health benefits plan, you don't need to provide CalPERS with your new card MBI number.

We will obtain your new MBI number directly from the CMS and update your account. No action is required from you for the transition to the new MBI number.

If you are Medicare-eligible, receiving retirement health benefits, and not enrolled in a CalPERS Medicare health benefits plan, you will need to enroll in a CalPERS Medicare health benefits plan to continue your health coverage through the CalPERS Health Program.
