Get Involved

Petaluma has a strong tradition of community involvement in city decision-making. There are many different levels of involvement. You can write a letter to the City Council or share your opinion at a Council Meeting. You can join a City Committee, Commission, or Board.  You can participate in volunteer activities to get a glimpse of how the City works. And, if you're eligible, you can exercise the right and privilege to vote!

Regardless of how you want to be involved, rest assured, our City works better when we have feedback from a broad range of community members.

Attend a Meeting

If you want to learn more about how the City makes decisions, attend a meeting of the City Council. The agenda is posted before every meeting. Typically council meetings happen on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month.

Provide Oversight

Petaluma has many Committees, Commissions and Boards you might want to join. The members of each group are appointed by the City Council. Click here to find out which groups have vacancies and how to apply.

Vote

We want to hear as many perspectives as possible as we plan for the future together. Help us continue the conversation by telling us your priorities for maintaining our quality of life, fiscal stability and essential services.

Volunteer

There are many ways to volunteer your time with the City. You can join the Police Volunteer group. You can also sign up to be a volunteer during an emergency or to help in the parks.
