The ice rink will be located parallel to E. Washington Street in the Fairgrounds main parking lot.

LUMA Ice is going to be a REAL ice, outdoor covered rink, with 5,600 square feet of skateable ice. This means, we can host up to 225 people skating at the same time! The ice rink will be approximately 1 foot off the ground and will have walls that are approximately 5 feet tall. There will be steps and seating areas around the ice rink.

Luma Ice's Regular Operating Schedule is from 10am-10pm (unless otherwise noted). Please view the schedule below to plan your visit to LUMA Ice!

• Open to general public 4pm to 10pm

12/14-16: Regular operating schedule - 10am-10pm

12/17-18: School Field Trips / Special Schedule

12/24: Special Schedule - early closure

Want to bring your class to LUMA Ice this season for a field trip? School Field Trips are available for public, private, and home school groups — no matter what grade. There is a minimum of 40 skaters required to book the school field trip rate of $10/skater (includes skate rental), and saved group space. Reservations are available on a first come, first serve basis.

We have 2 options available, including a private ice rental and a shared ice rental.

School Field Trip Availability: 12/13, 12/16, 12/17, 12/18 & 12/19 from 9:00-11:00am, 11:00-1:00pm, 1:00-3:00pm.

Capacity:

• Up to 225-300 skaters = Private Ice

• Under 225 skaters = Shared Ice

Price: $10/person (adult or child)

Inclusions:

• Guaranteed access to the ice rink for your entire group.
• If your group has 225 or more participants who will be skating, you will be able to have private ice rental (no sharing with another group or open to public access).
• Groups under 225 will be open to being paired with another group or open ice skating.
• Enjoy reserved access for the party chaperones and guests to safely watch the fun.
• Extra ice monitors skating on the ice during the party to emphasize safe skating.

Additional Features:

• Schools are welcome to decorate or bring in treats/food

Note: There will only be 90 minutes of available skate time. If shoe sizes are provided ahead of time, skates can be pre-assembled and ready for wear upon arrival to the ice rink.

Want to hold an Ice Skating Party at LUMA Ice this season? We are ready to start the booking process for your event! Please read through the process below and follow the link at the bottom to book and pay for your event.

We currently have two options for party rentals, depending on your party size: 

• Private Ice Rental (over 225 skaters attending, limited time-slots available).
• Party tent rental packages

Party Tent Rental Package: includes 2 picnic tables and an overhead tent that will encapsulate your group with reserved seating close to the ice rink. The party tent is available for 2-hour rental timeslots, which will coincide with the rink sessions. Party tent rentals also include:

• Skate rentals and ice rink entry for up to 10 guests (additional skate rentals will be charged at daily fee - no charge for non-skaters)
• Party announcement over PA (tailored messaging)
• Assistance with setup & decorating (you provide decor)
• Reserved parking for the host

***ONE Adult required for every FIVE persons under 18 years-of-age in your group***

Have a larger group? Consider renting TWO party tents!

This package offers you the opportunity to reserve the entire ice rink for a private, festive experience. Whether it’s a team-building event, a client appreciation night, or a holiday celebration, this unique winter wonderland provides the perfect backdrop for creating lasting memories.

Reserve the ice rink in 60-minute increments for $1,750/hr. Private Ice rentals based upon availability, time, and other conditions. Private Ice rentals are first-come first-serve! Don’t wait to book your private party today.

LUMA Ice is open rain or shine! Enjoy ice skating anytime, as the rink is fully covered by a tent, along with the spectator seating.

LUMA Ice is subject to close for private parties and private ice rental at any time. Skate-glider and skate rentals are first come, first served, based on availability. It is strongly recommended that parents and/or guardians do not leave skaters under the age of 16 unsupervised. The rink and seating areas are cleared at the end of each session to allow room for the next session's guests. Please plan on tucking your laces into your rental skates, and returning the rental skates to the skate drop off window when leaving.

LUMA Ice will offer more than just basic ice skating!

There will be a small, trackless, electric train for children and adults to ride, a holiday marketplace with food and artisan-made crafts, an area for private party rentals, Pronzini’s Tree Lot, whimsical inflatables, a Sea Serpent art installation from Burning Man, silent discos, themed skating nights, and MORE!

Petaluma artist, Micheal Garlington, is making a custom background for Luma Ice portraiture and selfies. Garlington’s 3-D photo drop will feature Winter images and skating chickens in the spirit of Petaluma!

Sebastopol Custom inflatable artist, Bill Kennedy (a.k.a. INFLATABILL), brings the wow factor to Luma Ice with his large-scale illuminated inflatables. Giant baubles will hang from the Luma Ice ceiling, elevating the event’s magical atmosphere to new heights!

Petaluma’s own Wonderstump, the creative team of Kirsten Bjore and Josh Cardenas, crafted custom signage for the event with their own special flair!

Oakland artist, CJay Roughgarden, shares the spectacle of “Naga” with Petaluma this Winter! This 100+’, steel sea serpent will grace the Petaluma Fairgrounds. Fresh from Burning Man, “Naga” is sure to absolutely shock our community with its splendor and craftsmanship. This bubble bellowing, illuminated sculpture is straight out of a dream, and we can’t wait for the joy he will inspire!

The City of Petaluma and LUMA Ice invite you to apply for an event vending opportunity focused around our ice skating rink. There will be ice skating sessions throughout the day from 10am to 10pm, 7 days per week (with holiday closures or special hours) from December 13, 2024 through January 7, 2025. Surrounding the ice rink will be a vendor marketplace, a bar/lounge area, private party tent rentals, and a holiday tree lot (Pronzini’s tree farm).

This is where we need YOU! We would like your business to be included in the vendor marketplace. LUMA Ice is looking for food businesses, unique retailers, and art makers that represent the full range of what Petaluma and the North Bay have to offer. Applications are now open! The deadline for applications is November 4, 2024, so do not delay in turning in your application.
