OFFICE CLOSED THROUGH MAY 3
To limit the spread of the coronavirus, the City of Petaluma has moved to an “essential services” operational model from March 17 to May 3. During that time, all City buildings will be closed to the public. All City Departments will be working at reduced staffing levels and will be providing ESSENTIAL SERVICES ONLY, primarily through e-mail and phone.
WHAT WE DO
Our Planning Division is a full-service team. We cover long range planning where we facilitate community efforts to craft a future vision of Petaluma or specific areas of the City. We also review development proposals, ensuring that proposed projects comply with Petaluma’s long term vision and regulatory standards . We also make sure that development respects the City’s historic and cultural heritage, and/or contribute the City’s growing collection of public artwork. And finally, we provide environmental review services ensuring that both development entitlements and the City’s visionary plans adhere to the standards of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The scope of our work requires multi-disciplinary collaboration with a number of professionals, as well as working with YOU - our public! Our team also staffs the Planning Commission, Historic and Cultural Preservation Committee, and Public Art Committee. Please take a moment to check out their upcoming meeting agenda. City planning is an open and engaging process, so we hope we’ll hear from you soon!
Please check out the information on our site and let us know if you have questions. We have an information counter, open 8AM to 5PM, Monday thru Thursday, at City Hall, but also take inquiries by phone and e-mail. We’re excited to hear your ideas and look forward to working with you to plan for Petaluma’s future!”

“My goal is to make Planning accessible to everyone and contribute to a healthy and sustainable Petaluma. As part of that effort, our team’s approach is to apply clear and straight-forward land use policies and programs so that anyone can participate."
