Planning
WHAT WE DO
Our Planning Division is a full-service team. We cover long range planning where we facilitate community efforts to craft a future vision of Petaluma or specific areas of the City. We also review development proposals, ensuring that proposed projects comply with Petaluma’s long term vision and regulatory standards. We also make sure that development respects the City’s historic and cultural heritage, and/or contribute the City’s growing collection of public artwork. And finally, we provide environmental review services ensuring that both development entitlements and the City’s visionary plans adhere to the standards of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The scope of our work requires multi-disciplinary collaboration with a number of professionals, as well as working with YOU - our public! Our team also staffs the Planning Commission, Historic and Cultural Preservation Committee, and Public Art Committee. Please take a moment to check out their upcoming meeting agenda. City planning is an open and engaging process, so we hope we’ll hear from you soon!
Please check out the information on our site and let us know if you have questions. We take inquiries by email and phone (staffed 8 am to 5 pm, Monday thru Thursday), offer video appointments, and have an information counter open 10 am to 3 pm at City Hall, Monday through Thursday. Masks and social distancing are currently recommended when you visit our planning counter. We’re excited to hear your ideas and look forward to working with you to plan for Petaluma’s future!
