Storey Residence Expansion
Project Description
The project proposes a two-story, 314-square-foot, rear extension to an existing two-story single-family residence located at 312 Liberty Street in the Oakhill-Brewster Historic District. The first-floor expansion is proposed at 51 square feet to accommodate a dining room and provide a new ensuite accessible bathroom to the primary bedroom in the dining room’s former location. The second-floor expansion, directly above, is proposed at 263 square feet to support a new laundry room, a new bathroom, and a remodeled accessible bathroom. Exterior alterations would include the extension of the existing gable roof and addition of two new shed roofs, removal of the existing chimney, removal of four windows and relocation of two windows, replacement or installation of 18 new windows, and four new skylights. The new windows, new composition shingle roofing, and new aluminum bevel siding are proposed to match the building’s existing materials and style. No alterations are proposed for the principal façade (west elevation) visible from the public right-of-way, except for the repair and replacement of the existing front porch deck.
