Council Chambers Upgrades

Project Description

The Council Chambers, now almost fifty years old, hosts all council, committee, and commission meetings. These chambers are the City’s primary location for conducting legislative business. The Council Chambers Upgrades project addressed the technology needs and safety for City Council members, public attendees, and City staff.

In response to the pandemic, the City transitioned to virtual Zoom webinar meetings in 2020. Now with hybrid (Zoom and in-person) meetings, these upgrades are designed to improve safety, enhance public participation, and to ease the use of this technology for optimal public engagement.

This project improved audio and video capability and added several video displays for the members on the dais and the audience. Other improvements included new moveable public seating, flooring, and staff seating.
